Summary: Local hosting provider in Cincinnati, Ohio looking for a talented network engineer with a strong work-ethic to join our fast-paced work environment, focused on providing leading-edge Internet Solutions and superior customer service. The Network Engineer will be part of a multi-discipline support team responsible for daily systems and infrastructure support; Tier 2/3 support ticket ownership and resolution; pro-active monitoring of systems performance and responding to alerts; datacenter operations management and other IT related projects for both Zimcom and its clients.

Job Description/Requirements:

  • Work with a team and/or lead a team on implementing and managing network hardware and software solutions for LAN/WAN in a fault tolerant, scalable and secure network environment
  • Demonstrate expertise in system installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures.
  • Propose network and/or operational projects (internal and external) in an ongoing effort to enhance our product suite, network security and reliability, and overall efficiency
  • Continuously analyze systems and procedures to ensure utilization of industry best practices
  • Provide Intermediate and advanced support for end-users, including troubleshooting, configuration and administration of various hosting environments (Linux/Windows)
  • Cisco routing switching configuration/management/troubleshooting duties
  • Shared/VPS/Cloud hosting support, including new account setup and troubleshooting
  • MS EXCHANGE/POP/IMAP Mail hosting support and administration
  • Level II-III phone and service ticket support
  • Datacenter equipment installation, maintenance and upkeep
  • Assist in training employees and knowledge-sharing of Engineering policies, procedures, and proper utilization

Required/Mandatory Skills:

  • Intermediate to strong competency of SMTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and FTP
  • Strong skills with Unix/Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP
  • Minimum 5 years Cisco experience w/ Cisco routers/switches/firewalls
  • Experience supporting OSPF, BGP, VLANs and other protocols
  • Strong working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and troubleshooting skills
  • MS Windows Server 2012 and prior (incl. Active Directory)
  • Knowledge of Information Security Systems (IDS/IPS)
  • Industry certifications desired but not mandatory
  • Ability to use critical thinking and apply to problem solving skills
  • Must be a quick learner and be able to complete tasks with little supervision

Position: Systems Administrator II

Job Description/Overview: Responsible for daily management and administration of Windows & Linux hosted VM’s within the Zimcom datacenters. This includes but is not limited to installation, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, monitoring and backups. The ideal candidate will have strong Linux OS administration skills, specifically with CentOS and Ubuntu.

This position also requires excellent communication and customer service skills, as the Systems Administrator II will play a key role within our support team sharing in the following duties:

  • Processing and resolving client support requests (phone/ticket/email)
  • Working closely with customers and fellow team members to quickly resolve issues
  • Shared, VPS, and Enterprise Cloud hosting support & administration, including new account setups, migrations, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • VPN setup, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Providing clear and consistent written documentation
  • Follow procedures to maintain security and protect systems from abuse and unauthorized access
  • Participation in on-call support rotation

Required/Mandatory Skills:

  • Intermediate to strong competency of SMTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and FTP
